Default cluster issue

alright this is a wierd issue my 98 xj sport has when im driving randomly my air bag light will come on and then my speedo and my odometer drops to zero and some times all my gauges freak out but if i turn on my head lights and turn them off or vice versa it goes back to normal but i might have to do it a few times any ideas?

Next time it acts up bang on top of the dash with your first and see if it makes a difference. If so, there may be a bad connection in the instrument cluster circuit board.

Also, I think there was a TSB for replacing the cluster connector? You may want to do a search for this.

thanks for the reply! banging on the dash made it go back to normal so im guessing your right, also whats a tsb?

The fuel gauge in my idiot light cluster on my 98 decides it like to tell me I have very little or no gas every now. I freaks me out if I dont remember how long its been since I fueled up last time. I use the hit the dash fix. worked every time so far. but I will check out the service bulletins.
