Clunking noise when turning left?

Default Clunking noise when turning left?

My 92 xj makes a clunking noise when i turn left, its more noticeable when its still cold, does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

If its a 4x4 I would look at the front u joints.

to replace that do i have to pull the axle shaft out? im more of an engine guy than a axle guy so idk what the process is lol

If u need to get new ones u don't have to if u don't mind working in a smaller space. They should be just like the u joints on your drive shaft

would i just be better off replacing both sides at the same time or is it more complex than im thinking it is?

There's really no need to do both if only one is bad... But it's your time and money! And you'll have the knowledge and know-how to do the other if and when it does go bad.

And a side note, part numbers for ujoints are different if you have ABS or not. So just keep an eye out and make sure you're getting the correct part

I picked up the U-joints today, theyre only 8$ a piece so i got both sides

replaced both left and right U joints and it still makes the same noise, any other ideas?

Sway bar bushings, end links, control arm bushings. Check all those. I had clunking and it was the sway bar bushings where it mounts to the unibody.

was the sway bushing broken off or just worn out?

The bushing was worn out enough that the sway bar was loose inside the mount.

check pinion bearings i had the same noise and that was the culprit
