Clunk on take-off grrrrrr
Ok, when I'm sittin at the F*#*!* red-light (i HATE the city) and I go to take off....yeepy goes clunk in back...THUMP. Haynes manual says u-joints, driveline fasteners loose..ect.
Got under her and wiggled the driveshaft....and it turns about 10-15 degrees back and forth in park.....is this natural??? or is yeepy tired?? I have an 8.25 rear end...(learned that this morning...wooo-hooo)
I'm no gearhead......but after reading here for the past month I know there is a wealth of knowledge here and hopefully somebody, or somebodies have experience with this and can make me a lil smarter.
Thanx in advance............Scott

If you can, jack up the front end, and check the ball joints as well as the rest of the steering and suspension components. you will need a second set of eyes to help see what is loose. worn ball joints can be felt with hands at 12 and 6 by pushing the top and bottom of the tire in and out, but you can also feel a worn wheel bearing that way, so there is where the second set of eyes comes in handy.
Good luck

a crawl under helps, ujoints will usually show wear in where the four posts enter the caps (where the ujoints bolt up to the shaft). gaps here or side to side movement indicates the need for ujoint replacement. otherwise id have the rear end checked or pull the cover off yourself and take a look. there should be some play in the rear, but not so much as the cause a slapping action. Also, check over any other part that may be swinging, such as a loose exhaust bracket.
Nice coydog by the way, and a great haul of hides you got in that other pic

could be the TC output spline needs some lube. worked for me! need to pull the drive shaft to do it so that is the best time to inspect the ujoint as well.
