hey all. im getting a "clunk' sound from front end while driving in 4x4. it happens about every five seconds while driving at 40 mph. and its almost as if it slows the front wheels down for a brief second. any ideas?

you first need to determine where the noise comes from. jack jeeps front end totally off ground, both sides so you can spin both tires. use jack stands for safty! you'll be under vehicle, have someone spin the tire slowly, while you listen for any noise!

if you still don't hear anything, go to each tire to see how much play is in wheel bearing, check pinion bearing, check u-joints, check ect....you should be able to hear/see while some else is spinning tire slowly hope this helps
