I was spankin this lame hill today in mah stock jeep when 4H wasn't enough for the first time. Well, we did get a lot of rain since I last went to this spot. Anyhoot. I had to back down the hill and put my rig into 4L. I licked the hill and when I got to the top and was just idling around in a circle and the transfer(?) started making a clicking noise like when you roll in Park. I immediately stopped through the tranny into nuetral and went back to 2H. Any idea what this was? oh yea. The Chryco 8.25" goes in tomorrow morning. woot

maybe the chain?
were you just hearing the noise? and not feeling anything?

 

A rapid clicking like the parking pawl trying to engage? Is that what you heard?

 

i've had this problem when purchasing a jeep that the previous owner hasn't used in 4lo.
maybe it's the linkage not engaging it totally.
you might have to adjust the t-case linkage.

 

I didn't feel anything. Just heard a clicking noise as if it was slammed into park and kept rolling. That kind of clicking noise.
