Default chevy 305 in a cherokee? possible?

i know with any i6 to v8 swap is very hard this and that. but wouldnt the 305 be easier of a swap in than a 350? or would it just be more worth to do the 350?

i think 350 might be better than 305. you're gonna run into the exactly the same issues with both.

350 and 305 are exactly the same, except in the horsepower dept. put the 350 in you'll be sad if you dont..........

X2 Just do it and take many, many pictures.

Heck how about a 6.5L Duramax Diesel, same fit and lots of torque

X2. As stated for the work and expense involved you'd be happier with the 350 IMO. Same amount of work and money, mostly same parts unless you go with a carb rather than an F.I. set up. F.I.= better performance and MPGs, and you don't have the fuel starvation issues when off-roading you have with a carb. JMO

You've got a great attitude Russ, and it looks like you appreciate a challenge.

More than possible. Reality. FrankZ has a write up on NAXJA I think. He's on here too under the same user. Talk to him about it.

If a Viper V10 can be messaged into a PT Cruiser, sliding a Chevy small block in an XJ would seem like a piece of cake. Only problem I see is spending time and money on installing a 305.

The 305 is nothing but a boat anchor. 350 would be the wise choice.
