Default Cherokee XJ Manifold Air Intake

Hi from the UK,

I replaced the TPS on my Jeep last week and all good now. When I was under the hood I noticed that an air intake on the manifold (SEE PICTURES) was sucking air in, I am not sure if this should have a pipe attached although I can't find a loose pipe anywhere.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks Iain

That looks like the vacuum port for the cruise control and HVAC vacuum system tube. There should be a plastic tube with a check valve in it floating around that area.

See if you can open this link. It contains pics of the XJ vacuum system.

As you've probably figured out, those diagrams and pics are for a left hand drive XJ. The RH drive components may not be in the exact same location.

That plastic tube/check valve should be lurking somewhere.

Good luck.
