Actually, on all the obdI chrysler products i've played with, i've never seen a CPS throw a code...
That problem you're describing is similar to a situation I experieced on a 99 with a bad MAP sensor, it didn't throw a code either. Unplug the MAP and start it, see if the problem gets better.

The MAP gets it's "baro" reading for atmospheric pressure (elevation) right at key-on. Having it unplugged will make it go full-lean and not start.

What is the fuel pressure? Also, Renix (87-90) won't show check engine light, there ISN'T a check engine light. The Emmissions Maint light is set by time only...

well i took it apart to see what the timing chain looked like and it was f***ed it hadn't jumped a tooth yet but it had allllooooott of play like an inch or more. so im just going to replace that. i dont have a fuel pressure gauge but the only thing i haven't replaced in the fuel system is the regulator that is going to be a jy steal shortly. should i grab a map sensor while im at it?
