Default Cherokee tailgate

Third Cherokee I've had now that the rear door thumps and rattles, anyone know of a good fix for this?

I would take the back panel of and shake it around a bit, just so you can see if the latch is fully secured down. From there I would make another post and or take pictures or something. In my 88 xj I ended up having to put a rubber stopper into the gap between the latch and the push button to open it.

Shake the hatch up that is. not the actual panel

yea there should be atleast 2 rubber stoppers on bolts. I probably got a couple hours total of messing with them things through out the years but nows its good. oh and dont push hard on them they break inside...

Yeah, I can see the two rubber screw on stoppers. They don't touch the body when closed. I'll check the latch though.

Too big of a gap to fix with turning stoppers, it would leave only a few threads in the door.

Not replaced but jeep did get hit in back, minimal damage, just a dent in the bumper so I don't think that did anything. I was thinking of taking off the stoppers and making them bigger somehow. Maybe using a paper cup as a mold and some kind of ..... Well I can't think of what material to use but I'm gonna look to see what I can find.
