Cherokee starting problems
My 96 XJ starts quickly when cold and sitting all night. If I've been driving and turn it off for an hour or so, it really cranks to start. I mean like 5-6 seconds easily. Cold....maybe 1-2 seconds max. It has new cap and rotor from previous owner right before the sale, but not sure if he changed plugs. I'm thinking I need to pull a plug and see what they look like....may just need gapped right also.

Yea, clean and gap your plugs. Doesn't really fit your symptom, but easy enough to try turning the ign on a sec, off on again a few times. Then try it. If THAT works your fuel pressure is bleeding off and it's cranking while its re-priming.

That though crossed my mind, but if it sits over night, or for at least 5-6 hours, it starts almost instantly? If it was losing prime.....wouldn't the symptoms be the opposite...start quickly when warm and only off shortly, then long cranks when it has sat?

"Doesn't really fit your symptom, but easy enough to try" Just a matter of turning the key on and off.
Hey team, could leaking injectors flood it while it's siting hot, drys out overnight.
My O'Reilies has a deal where you can borrow tools (fuel pressure tester?)free with a deposit of it's new value. Or maybe they would just let you check it.
Also I've heard that the injectors can get too hot. Up till 90 there is a heat shield. Some guys wrap there injectors in "header tape" or some such insulating wrap. I don't know about that.
Course you need to check the plugs, does sound like that was done though.
