I recently purchased a 97 cherokee sport with a blown auto transmission i swapped in a new trans from a 99 cherokee sport everything bolted up properly only issue was the transmission harness on the new trans has 7 plugs and on the engine harness side the plug is only a 5 wire plug. After the trans was installed i started the truck let it idle and made sure fluid circulated through the trans i shifted into reverse and it worked perfectly then shifted to drive and it revs up but seems like its starting off in 2nd or 3rd gear im lost and need help any ideas???

 

How about putting the hardness from the 97 onto the 99 trans?
