Default Cherokee side molding

The side weather stripping on my Jeep Cherokee has come off on both sides. I decided I don't want to try to put it back on. But there is some kind of black contact paper underneath where the weather stripping was. I am attaching photos, but was wondering how I can remove that without damaging the paint underneath? Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking a WD-40 or Goo gone and then maybe trying to spray it with the power washer but I'm not sure if that would work. I think it's called weather stripping but I'm not sure what it is some kind of side molding.

Mineral spirits saturated rag. Like those cheap red rags from the parts store. Regardless if it's the foam style double sided tape or the clear double sided adhesive tape the mineral spirits should soak into it then with some scrubbing slowly come off.

I've heard good things about those eraser wheels; that's what I'd try first.

I'm with Corky on this one.
Not cheap but works great.
Little goes a long way and does not evaporate quickly.
But I think you should buy the can and not the spray.
