Default Cherokee Service - oil, filters, etc.

Hello,

I have a Jeep Cherokee Limited XJ 1996, VM 2.5 Turbo Diesel.

I want to change the engine oil, gearbox oil, transmission, differentials. The rear differential is with LSD. All filters also.

According to you which brands I to choose?

Thanks in advance!

for the filters i usually go with frame but the air filter i got a speed by spectre filter at autozone and got about 3/4 to a mile mpg so see if they have that in your size, its like 20-30 bucks

The Fram oil filters aren't that great the paper element inside them are smaller then allot of other oil filters.

Purolator and Wix oil filters are pretty good. I use Mobil 1 in all of my vehicles. It works pretty good.

x2, don't buy a fram oil filter, they are very low quality and can even cause loss of oil pressure. As mentioned above Wix and Purolater are good filters. Since yours has the Turbo Diesel it will probably have a different filter than the common 4.0L. It might be best to look up a service manual for that engine and find the recommended filter and oil wieght. The 2.5l diesel isn't very common in the States.

I know that this engine is not popular in U.S.A.
About oil and air filters - which brands? Purolator, Wix or?

Regarding the oils - for a engine Mobil 1, may be is OK, but about the differentials with LSD, gear box, transmission, I'm not sure...

What do you think?

Try WIX filters. They are a construction grade napa gold filter. i used them when i was a heavy equipment mechanic. they are a great filter and inexpensive.
