Cherokee NO Start
Im looking into buy my first Cherokee its a stock 92. the only problem is i cant get it to start i can screwdriver the starter and solenoid to get it to turn over but the key will not give me any power to the starter. The transmission shifter cover is off which is kind of gives me the impression that it has something do with the NSS or something I tried putting it in neutral and it still would not turnover? could it be a fuse or something simple? thanks i searched around the forum but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for.

Don't even replace it yet though. My jeep sat for a couple days and when I went to start it nothing happened. So I unplugged it, blew the plugs out, good as new. Hopefully it's that easy for you.

But he has to short it to make it even crank. Id check the ignition at the base of the steering column under the dash

Another thing to look at is possibly a new starter. you said you tapped it with a screwdriver and it cranked, or something like that. I had that same issue with my xj when I still had it. installed a new starter and bam. started everytime after that...not saying that's whats wrong with it, but its a possibility.
Good luck
