Does anyone have a good link on a how to rebuild the front diff on a cherokee? Heard a noise from the front end and turns out that it was a bearing in the differential going bad. shop wants $900 dollars to replace all the bearings. I am wondering if I can do the work myself or maybe its time to think about a JY replacement. 900 is half what i paid for the thing!

The $$ you spend to rebuild the front axle will probably be the same as getting one from a junkyard. If you've never done this before save yourself the headache and get a used one. Theres allot of shimming and measuring tolerances involved and if it's not done right you'll end up with another wasted axle with wasted $$ . Just wonering what bearing went and why? lack of lubercation?

I just bought the XJ (only had it a week), and didnt hear the problem when I was testing it out. I think a junk yard is the best option. looking at the tolerances is scary. Definitely check the ratios
