Well this is more of an info thread since I kinda know what I am gonna do with it. But Just thought I would share my exp with someone and hopefully help them fix there future jeep problem.
87 XJ 4.0L Renix. full tank of gas.
Driving to work this morning. Jeep drove fine. I needed to stop at walmart for some Antacids prior to going in. As I was turning into the parking lot the Jeep just up an died. Takes about 10 minutes from home to get there.
I initially thought it was the Alternator went out. But everything still worked. Radio guages and it still cranked really strong. Either way I couldnt be late to work so I called the boss and a co-worker (he picked me up) and arrived at work only 5 minutes late.
Wife picked me up from work and we stopped by walmart to check on the Jeep. She fired right up. Whhhaaattt!.
Oh-well figured great atleast I can get it home to see what is wrong with it. Well it made it 9 miles out of the 10 mile trip.
So am thinking Dies when hot. Great I get an open once the vehicle is hot.
I did finally get the truck home. It took about 3 Dies with 10 minute intervals.
First and formost I will be changing out the CPS (Crankshaft Posistion sensor).
It has a naked wire from previous owner testing so I fill that could be creating my Open. And it is the most common failure for a no-start issue.
I will repost my finding once it it up and running.

Could be the ignition coil shuting down as well.
Mine stalled once before and then died completely a few years back. I did all the usual like CPS, relays, fuses etc till i found the problem. It's nice having spares lying around.
