Cherokee Convertin' time
Hey all. I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee with the 2.5L and AX-45 or 42 transmission. My engine is starting to give up with almost, and I am NOT lying, almost 600,000 miles. ODO sits right now a 512,242 miles. I've rebuilt it a few times already. Most of the miles are from cross country wheelin'. Anyway to my conversion idea. I understand that Daimler-Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee now has an option for a mercedes sourced common rail diesel I belive. I want to get one of those from a local wrecking yard and stick it in my cherokee. Can someone supply me with what I would need to get and do to the Jeep to transplant the new motor? If I can, I will post a builders thread on here to keep y'all informed of my progress...all the way up till I first drive and Wheel it! If anyone has done anything similar to this, please send my pics of yo jeep. Ecspecially the engine bay and any mods you did, please?

Look around on Jeepforum. There's a guy on there doing a CRD swap out of a Liberty. He's actually doing 2 of them, one into a Commanche and one into a Cherokee.
