Default cherokee 4.0L crankshafts?

So I'm looking to replace my current crankshaft due to bearing failures. Any good suggestions of which remanufactured brand is good? I don't want to buy an unknown brand or a crappy brand. I saw that both autozone and advanced auto parts have one called "crankshaft rebuilders" and the kit number is 25420. Thanks for the help in advance

I just bought on of those crankshafts from advanced. If you order online use coupon code "visa" for $50 off. Quality is great.

I'd be weary of having a crankshaft shipped to my door, unless it was packaged very nicely. they really have to be shipped as well as stored with all of the mains supported...preferably in a wooden box, sprayed down with machine oil.

I'd ship mine to ya, with whatever you wanna buy to ship it in . I'm going the stroker route and my crank is good.

I'd take it to a machine shop, have them Polish it and the works and hook ya up with some main bearing and connecting rod bearings. Or take it to them and make them do all the work . 85 plus what ever it is to ship (mines shipping for 30 from Texas)

no offense, but i wouldn't buy a used crank because it's likely been stored flat at some point. cranks have to be stored on end, upright.

but since you're replacing the crank, why not start with a 4.2 crank and build a stroker?
i think all you need is crank, connecting rods, pistons and head from a 4.2 to build a junkyard stroker that should give you a 4.6L.

Yea, i was thinking about the used ones..but i was just wondering what his price would be..my dad's a mechanic and probably wouldnt like it to be used.

As for the stroker, I would do it, but I don't have time for that and my dad's not a fan of "upgrading" that kind of stuff...He likes all stock lol. Wouldnt you have to bore the block a little as well?

You've got a lil reading to do! Na jk, but really you just need 4.2 crankshaft, and 4.2 connecting rods/ OR KB944 pistons.

Ya that's understandable. Nope, just have to buy those two aforementioned parts and have a normal machine work and installation kit/gasketset.
(You do have to bore the block if you get pistons, I don't believe they make kb944[or others like it] in standard sizes. In my case .030 over)

I know when i took the machine shop ti have it looked at i was told it would be $190 to grind and polish my current crank and another $100 for the bearings to match the regroung crank. That why i went with the reman crank kit ( comes with matched main and rod bearings) Got it for $144 to the door, using coupon code "visa"

Well it is a bit of work for a small machine shop to grind and polish a crank. So i understood he even told me I could find a crank kit cheaper and even gave me a price of $180 for one. I just happened to find out about the $50 off coupon code and just went that route. I got him to install some nrw cam bearings. Check my block for cracks and clean the block, also check my bearing housing on all of the rods for $250. Pretty good deal.

u can still use the 4.0L head because it flows A LOT better than the old 4.2 head. and as far as pistons, i would bother using jy pistons, that i would really want to buy new. just saying
