Greetings to all. I am new here, and have a problem with my 01 Cherokee 2wd 4.0. She will start and run fine 90% of the time. But every once and a while it just dies out, Like the key was turned off. And it is usually when I turn on the turn signals. Most times it will restart immediately after that, but not always. I own an I-Nova scan tool, and the only code is for a evaporative emission leak, miner. When ever I have the scan tool connected, and turn on the turn signal, emergency flasher, or high beams, I loose connection with the data link. I checked the battery cables and grounds. checked all the fuses. I will at times also have all of the dash gauges go dead, and light up the gage illumination lights along with the low fuel and related warning lights. When that happens, the accessory side of the ignition seems to go dead. I traced down the ground for the data link, dash, and the left multi function switch to "G200" which is next to the air bag controller under the console. I Have checked the ground circuit, and I am only 3 millivolts difference between the G200, and the negative battery post. Any ideas are welcome . Thanks in advance.

 

Sounds like you may need a new ignition switch.
