Check my gear pattern please
My backlash is .007 and I have read .008 is minimum, I think I am close but to me the pattern seems high on the crown and thus not deep enough on the root, heel to toe I am fine. To get it deeper in the root I will have virtually no backlash. I need some expert opinions please.

Pinion riding too deep in the ring gear? or too deep into housing? I need to increase my backlash so i need to know what to move pinion or carrier. Thanks

We "mere mortals" generally don't go there. I won't do a (fourth), unless it's for a farm/hill truck, or the like. (got lucky one out of three). Subscribing. Best of luck to you.

Just as mortal here probably just more broke. If I could afford to have stuff like this done I probably would. But I do enjoy it plus If I master this, its another skill that I can help others with. I am now on the hunt for more pinion shims, I don't have many to choose from. I had originally hired a mobile mechanic to do this and teach me at the same time, turns out the guy was spinning. After he left I couldn't find them anywhere, figure they made their way out with his tools. Lesson learned, either take it to a reputable shop or do it by myself.

I didn't mean to distract. If SeroiusOffroad can help...supper. "back in the day", parts stores actually had "shim-stock". Roles of various thickness. No idea if anyone would cut that for that.
Do you have the FSM procedure for that?
And what year and what diff, AND JUST GRAB ONE AT THE JY!!!!!
Rear Axle: 8.8 trussed w/IRO OK...I have some FSM's on file. Don't even know how to start looking for that.
