Default Check engine light help

Not sure if anyone can help me before I get a scan tool on it, however the check engine light came on. It drives at about 3k RPM and 45MPH. I drove it less than a mile and drove it right back home .. Any ideas what would cause this loss of power?

Also, the motor isn't making any odd noises. It sounds to be running like it was before just with higher RPM and loss of power. No knocking or ticking

Search google or the forum to tell you how to read codes without a reader. There's a series of flashes from the dash that will tell you

The dash should give you a code/codes. There is a write up on how to do that here somewhere.

Another update being its bothering me so much I went outside and say in it and burped the gas in park. Only does it sometimes, however I burp the gas and the RPM will drop so far that it dies..

The jeep also has troubles starting .. Always starts the 2nd or 3rd key turn .. Could this be a fuel pump?

Borrow a fuel pressure gauge from your local parts store. See if it's within spec. If below spec pump is failing. When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? Cleaned then injectors?
