Like i said, my check engine light came on today after muddin but everything seems to be runnin ok. My jeep is a little slower but i did just put some 20w50 oil in there last night while changin oil. If i put regular 10w30 in there do yall think the light will go off?

The CEL did not come on just for the fun of it.
Get a Code Reader and read the code/s that caused the light.
Changing the oil for a CEL doesn't make sense to me.

Cruise on down to the autoparts store (Autozone?) to borrow and run the OBDII code scanner just to get a "feel" for whatever threw the code (or to determine whatever's pizzled).

My CEL came on the other evening coming home from work, climbing a pretty steep hill with a fairly cold engine. Every gauge looked ok and no other light came on the dashboard...
I stopped at Advanced Auto Parts on my way and, once again
, borrowed their scan tool.
I ended up with a P0455: Evap Emission Control Leak. I tightened the gas cap and no problem since then.

The strategy when you see a check engine light should ALWAYS be the same.
Pull the code.
Use the technology provided to you by your Jeep.
Post the EXACT code here for comment. The OBD system is subject to some "interpretation" (ie: not always straight forward).
