So, i bought my first cherokee a week ago, a 2000 Xj Sport with 201,xxx miles. after driving it about 200 miles, the check engine light came on, i ran OBD II diagnostics and the fault code is P0740...Torque Converter Clutch circuit malfunction... other than the light, the jeep seems to be running great. Any thoughts?
also, i had the oil changed and now my oil pressure is all over the map (according to the stock gauge, which for the first 250 miles or so was very consistent) can using "high mileage" oil affect this reading??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is some information on DTC P0740.
SYMPTOM:
P0740-TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT
WHEN MONITORED:
During Electronically Modulated Converter Clutch (EMCC) Operation.
SET CONDITION:
Transmission must be in EMCC, with input speed > than 1750 RPM . TCC-L/R Solenoid achieves the maximum duty cycle and can not pull engine speed within 60 RPM of input speed. Also when the transmission is in FEMCC and the engine slips TCC > than 100 RPM for 10 seconds.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
Check for misfire codes
Intermittent TCC solenoid
Check the TRANS fluid level and condition
Input shaft seals
Internal problem or TCC solenoid
Oil pump/shaft/seals
Torque converter
Valve body

soooo, the problem is back...it was gone for about 500 miles and then the CEL came back on, and now my engine RPM are a good bit higher than normal when cruising at highway speeds. any additional thoughts...my transmission shop doesn't want to work on my jeep anymore, unless i just replace the transmission with one of their used or remanufactured units.
