Did you try dealing with the cruise control, you never updated on this. If you are waiting on someone to tell you how to fix it off a code that is not going to happen. I have an emissions error on mine and it could be dozens of issues. Try taking it in to a shop and have them look at it and give you a quote on the repair. Get as many details from them on what exactly is the problem and what they plan on doing. Then go pick it up and do it yourserlf.

I checked out the chiltons manual and it doesn't show a code p0325
and p1899 is P/N switch stuck in park or in gear, so maybe this is where the p/o got his thought about the transmission.
Hey frankz the 96 and later model use the obd2 but it displayed obd1 codes. Did they do 1/2 years in 96? Also I thought there were some jeep systems that use a 3 digit code or maybe I'm just crazy?
12 battery disco
33 air conditioner clutch relay circuit
45 non existent? not listed in the book
55 end sequence
I would unhook the battery for 30 seconds and reset all codes, drive it and see if it comes back with the same ones.

Those are OBDII codes. all 1996 XJ's are OBDII.
FWIW:
My research shows the same code descriptions as you posted.
