Default check engine light

Hi guys,

My cherokee shows a check engine sign. After scanning I came through this code.

P0138-powertrain (02 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 2)

When I asked the guy which is the defective sensor,he said to me to remove and check all of them. Will it affect the performance of my ride.

Please help me guys.

Just a heads up, you can check the fuses, I forget exactly which one it is in the block but its a 15A. Check your wires as well make sure they aren't messed up. I reset it and it came back after 30 or so miles, just going to replace the rear o2, its like 60 bucks.

$60?

For what brand?

You want NTK O2 sensors in your XJ.

Rock auto has em for between $30-35

Thanks for the heads up, I was just looking in the local box store. I thought I checked online but that must have been for something else.

On phone app so can't see your signature or profile. If you have Federal Emissions package it's installed into the rear if the big catalytic converter under the passenger's feet. If you have 2000 or newer with the California Emissions package, it's in the exhaust manifold below the forward-most miniature cat

My check engine light is on. I read the codes and it says 0. Try to turn it off and it stays on.

Thoughts?

I push the check engine off button but it does not go off. Going to try resetting my gauge and then try again. Instructions say that some systems will not shut off the CEL
