So my check engine light it on and I know why: Its the TPS Sensor & Idle Control Valve...What I dont understand is why the light is on... It runs/drives great and idles just fine right around 1000 or a little less. The vehicle itself is a '99 Cherokee Sport, 5 Speed, Inline 6, 174000 miles.

Could this mean that the sensors are just bad? Or that I actually have a real problem that I need to fix.

 

Not sure how you know but if you pulled a code can't you pull it clean it up a bit & try to clear the light. I hate check engine lights even though most times I feel no difference in operating. Just had mine come on two times one after the other in past two months . First something to do with fuel pump 2nd was the rear oxygen sensor. Replaced pump then sensor & light out & it feels like it runs better.

 

Post the EXACT codes here for more accurate replies. There are a few codes for these circuits.

 

im having a very simialr issue. waiting to see the outcome Im getting codes 0201 to 0208 all correspond to the fuel injection irregular idle.

 

I had the codes checked at Auto-Zone... Do I need to worry about this? Like I said its running and idling fine...
