I just went through the same issue myself. I replaced my plugs and took it back to get rescanned. I go an error which suggested that the problem has gone away, but the scanner could not clear the CEL.

How do I manually clear a CEL on my 2000 XJ? Will disconnecting the battery for a while work?

where do you get one of those? ive been looking all over and cant find 1.
