My light went on last night and when i started up my 2000 jeep cherokee sport w/98,xxx miles it idle really low and then it drove fine and every start up after that it was idling fine i went to autozone and they said it showed a code for a misfire in cylinder 3. What should i check and does anyone know the exact code .

it could be your plugs or your intake gasket does it start OK or does it take a while to start.

sometimes when you run these XJ's hard and then turn them off and turn it back on quickly they will get heat soaked or vapor locked, and misfire. but you may have something different, but when you had it scanned, didnt it give you the code?

did you get your CEL cleared and it came back ? if it comes back after re set you cna try this. try swapping the spark plug with an other cylinder and see if the problem follows the plug... if not it could be the boot on the cop, the springy thing in there or the COP

hey guys, they have a bullitin out for this concern, you need to insulate number 3 injector with a heat resistant wrap. like a racing plug wire boot. wrap the entire injector body and it will fix your problem.
