The harness does not cost much more than the headlight switch that's likely to melt down along with the connector and associated wires, and is easier to install than the time and effort it takes to repair the meltdown. Those switches have a poor circuit breaker in them that fails with stock lights. Using the upgrade harness takes all the load off the switch. FWIW, studies have shown that the headlamp switch is most likely to fail at night.............
