Default Cheap rocker panel repair/fix/replacement & rear lower quarter panel

Ok. Ive read about the rectangle tube rockers making sliders. Nice? Yep. Cheap? Hell no. Heavy? Yeah kinda.

Am i complaining about that? Not really. But i kinda want a cheaper idea/fix. Now i read the diamond plate fix. But his rockers. Alot better then mine. Mine are almost completely gone one my drivers side. I might be able to save my passengers side.

So. Could i. In theory. Make the diamond plates into more then just covers? Like actually make them work/function as rockers?

Also. My rear lower quarter panel. Right behind the wheel. Rusted out. So i was thinking cut the outter body panel thats rusted. And bend the inner stuff maybe and get it to cover the whole in the body and stop that stuff from rusting. And i was going to cut along the body line. Ive seen it done before.

My current plan for all that im doing with my XJ is getting the rust done/painted. But. The rockers need to go and need replacing ASAP

Could use diamond plate to maybe make rear lower quarter panels too? Or i might just stay with the cut and fold idea.
