Chattering under jeep while rolling.
So, to bug everyone again.
My 88 xj laredo 4x4 4.0 ba 10/5 chatters through the shift boot (lets call it a diagnostic hole) when it's moving, in any gear or neutral, but only when it's rolling. Like a metal chattering sound.
I do need to change the transmission mount and engine mounts and figured I'd find/ button up whatever it is when I'm down there but wanted to see what I should be looking for if you all had any thoughts.
This old girl has been abused, nothing would surprise me.

well hell, I'm going to get under it tomorrow and do the transmission mount, maybe that will help me poke my head around enough to find it. I'll update if i figure it out.

Well you may know by now but it sounds like your transfer case chain. My 92 does same thing has since i bought it two months ago. I found out its the chain scrapping the bottom of the inside of the transfer case. Add fluid and it may soften the sound until u get it filled. In looking for cheap chain and gears for mine. Doing my front u joints tomorrow.

Could be throw out bearing, pilot bearing, or worn out pressure plate. None of which you'll be able to see when under there though, you have to remove the trans.
