Changing from stock gears to 4.10's

I just bought gears for my dana 30 and my ford 8.8 on ebay, and I was reading around and some places said I need to purchase new carrier's for my axles to run such a gear set, is this true>?

Yes. The carrier split for a Dana 30 is 3.73 and down....

Definately on the 30 yes. Not sure about the 8.8 though.

Yah I know for sure on the Dana 30 now, which I can get a carrier from Rusty's for like $70 so I will probably just order my gears from there for the 30 also. My gears for my 8.8 will be here friday so I will find out then if they fit or what the problem would be.
