When ever I get a drain plug that tight I use a 6 point socket of the correct size and a long ratchet. Works every time unless some asshat rounded it off them it's the big vise grip and new plug.

This thread is a prime example of why I do the family's oil changes now. 2007 Ford Focus- new drain plug because some **** decided to super tighten it. My '91 XJ- New drain plug, same reason. My mothers '02 Escape almost needed it, but I finally got it loose. I just tighten them to snug, then give them one good grunt. Good to go.

I couldnt believe how tight it was... even if I had the wrong wrench , it shuldnt have needed that much exertion for it to come off, thought i was gonna **** myself. But its all good now.. Picked up a new drain plug tonight!!! No problem!!

Its funny after commenting on thusbi went to change my oil and I guess when they replaced the oil pump they super tightened It And it took ten minutes of pulling myself around with the ratchet. I laughed while I wasbunder there thinking of this thread.
