Default Changing front/rear diffs oil soon.

I am preparing to change out the front and rear diff gear oil. I know I need to buy the gaskets, oils and rtv for them. I have pb blaster and a gasket scraper and I will probably buy 2 of each just in case I @#$#@% it up the first shot.

Anything else that I should prepare for before I start taking things apart? Do I need a torque wrench for this or can I use a regular socket wrench?
If I need a torque wrench what is the torque spec?

Any common supprises to prepare for?

Thanks In advance

Great write up thanks! Helped out a great deal. I never would have thought about paper towels or brake cleaner.
