Changed out the crank sensor
Now the Jeep runs exceptionally well, at 211K on the clock. Dropped the driveshaft to have easier access to the thing, and used the tools mentioned, here.
The new sensor's wire pigtail (Borg-Warner) was curled up, so I used a length of wire tied to it, dropped it down behind the manifold, and in front of the firewall, and just let 'er drop low enough so I could attach it to the bellhousing. Then, gently pulled the wire, and pigtail end, up to the harness, un-curled the pigtail, and plugged the two together.
Symptoms were hard starting, then a shuddering/sputtering going down the road, then it got worse to the point where the thing would die, then I'd have to re-start it to get it home.

It is amazing how much a new crank sensor can change the way the vehicle runs. My ZJ would kind of buck and shutter when I hit sharp bumps on the freeway at 65mph. I chased my tail trying to figure out whet the hell was causing this until I noticed the tach needle would drop when the event happened, I replaced the CPS and the engine has not missed a beat since.

Read some posts/threads, here, and had the same symptoms folks had in this forum.
Hard starting, skipping/bucking on the highway, then it got worse to the point where it stalled while going down the road, just driving around town. Initially, it seemed to happen after it had warmed up, then it got to the point where it was failing around town.
I had the codes scanned a month ago, and sure enough the crank sensor code came up, too.
