I was told that it would just blow oil out on the driveway if it was over full. I dont know if this is true or not but I am never to worried about overfilling it. 4.0s take 6 quarts and can run fine on 5. It is a lubricant and its not like you dumped glue into the engine instead so you should be fine.

Sorry about the dick's on here that bother you... welcome to CF man. A little over the line on oil is ok but I would not go to much over. Do the filter trick that another member said to do. It works. Welcome to owning jeeps and spending money to fix it... ahh flat broke and having fun!

Alright cool....Don't know if my post sounded rude, but I didn't mean too. Just heard very bad experience with those "quick lube" place.

Don't want to beat this to death but did you mean the full line or the fill line, if you mean the fill line as stated a 1/2" puts you between the marks

not to steal the threat, but this most recent time i had my oil changed they overfilled it by 1/2 an inch plus on the dipstick and I've developed a small oil leak. Will this stop if i drain it to the proper level? I had an leaked valve cover and had that replaced and it stopped...but then i went and got my oil changed and it started leaking again

if it's smoking when you start up you could have possibly blown a valve seal, but if it just leaks from valvecover because of an overfill, it was probably caused by the increased pressure in your crankcase. check your valvecover breathers. are they blowing oil?
