I really didn't like the yellow in the tail lights or the white for that matter.

I like the look of the older tail lights with the white stripe. So heres what I came up with. What do you think.

Its different, it looks bad with that sun glare, but I think its something id have to see in person.

Than again, im a huge fan of blacked out lights, you should sand it down and do a light coat, smoke them grey.

And your worried about dog slobber? you cant even see my paint its covered in mud and i have a pine branch hanging off my roof rail it looks like a bucks rack.

They look clean and simple.I like it.How did you do it and how does it affect the brightness of the lights?. When I bought mine it hade those TERRIBLE eurocrap lights in it. I had a guy come over (in an xj)to buy a set of tires from me and I talked him into trading me for his stock ones.

I don't like the black out look, I have the white outs in the front and no blue head lights for me.

Nice look, I think better than the original, what type of paint did you use?

that is exactly what I was going for.

as for how I did it.

1. a little sanding with a high number paper.
2. electric tape for the white stripe over the clear part of the light
I like the way electric tape bonds to plastic
3. most important you need to buy testers (testers is the brand) transparent paint. The research I did came with transparent candy apple red as the color. I went with transparent hot rod red. It took 2 coats to cover the yellow and red out the white. I also went over the edge of the electric tape with a blade after it dried to give an even pull off of the tape.

Rear visibility is about the same with a little red tint.
