I have a 2001 XJ sport. I have aftermarket front headlights that allow me to change the bulbs, they also have a running light in them too. I removed the newer housings to put the old style in just so I could clean them up and put new bulbs in, so only a headlight swap. Lights turn on, and now my left turn signal light is constantly on. It is not on outside though, and is not blinking, just solid on. Right turn signal works fine. Any ideas?

The little socket that you put your bulb into, check and see if the grounds are bad. Look for corrosion and what not. When the grounds go bad, it grounds through the same location as your gauge cluster which is what makes the green warning light stay on.

This just happened to me when I installed H4's with a homemade wiring harness this weekend. Its a ground issue and you can simply test this if you have extra wire to manually ground it out to the battery

So that would explain why if I turn the left turn signal on while having the lights off, the cluster flashes opposite of the turn signal? So the ground issue is going to be inside the small bulbs connector? or the large 3 prong light connector?

So if I can't get the connector to work, I can just take the faulty wire and run a new wire to the negative of the battery and it will solve the problem?

What they do is have a connector to join all the grounds together and route them back through the wiring harness. I just replaced the ground wires and removed the stock connector thingy.

You don't have to have your ground go to the negative terminal on the battery, just find a good solid ground on the body and attach it, and remove the connector thing like the other guy said!

Took off the front left lamp, pulled the marker light out of the housing AND...the marker light contact had kinda broke, so both sides where touching, causing a direct short. I pushed them to the sides and put a new maker bulb in and issue gone.
