Hey everybody,

While I was working on my rear speakers in my 2001 cherokee limited, I looked up and noticed three hooks/latches up on the ceiling just inside my rear door. I've had this jeep for about 6 months now and have never seen these hooks before. Can anyone explain to me what they're for? There are three of them (see picture attachment).

I tried to look around on the forum to find an answer but I couldn't find a thread that addressed this (maybe because I'm new and don't quite know my way around yet!).

 

Probably for a cargo net, trying to remember I mine has em. Ill check in morning. Possibly the PO put em there. But check also the floor below em I think there are tie downs over there

 

Yea, I definitely have tie downs on the floor but they're a little different than these ceiling ones.

 

I think they're aftermarket. No XJ I've ever seen has them on the roof. They do look similar to the ones for cargo covers though hmmm

 

Those are the rear restraints for child seats. They are factory. They came pre-installed on most '00-'01's, but were a "free" dealer installation if you didn't have 'em and wanted them.

 

I was wondering the same thing my 2001 I recently purchased has them.

 

Your all wrong, those are for the seatbelts that came with the optional 3rd row seating... duhhhhh

However, I also like the cargo net idea. I might try to rig up something...
