Default CCV/PCV Question

On the rear of the valve cover (one closest to the firewall) when I removed my CCV to replace the gromlet, I bent the ear of a metal tab that was just below the opening. If you were to take out the CCV and gromlet, look straight down the hole, there is a metal tab of some sort. What is this thing and what does it do? I was able to push it down a lil bit but have no clue what this pc does and it drives me crazy that I have a small bend in it.

I just took my valve cover off and redid the gasket after i snapped my front breather in the cover cause i thought it went strait to the valve cover but there was that shield there. What you are seeing is shield inside the valve cover i think it prevents oil from splashing into the front breather and being suck into the intake.

I just took the round end of a screw driver and hit it back down. You think this should be fine then?

Yea it should be fine just as long as you didnt get bend it back and forwth to much causing it to be briddle you know what what i mean, you only bent it about two times so it should be fine nothin to worry about.

I just hit it back down. I hope i didnt hit it down too much and close the hole below it haha. Now im kinda wondering how much of a gap it had before I hit it back down.

How easy was the valvecover swap? I am planning on running a new one soon.

It was pretty easy its just like a puzzle getting the valve cover off take your time pulling it out you have to finagle it. The hardset part was the front heater core hose clamp cause it got in the way, you might want to twist that away from the valve cover before you start. Removing the radiator hose in the thermastat housing also helped the proccess along, just shove a shop towel in the hole. lastly you have to remove the throttle cables and such its all really simple stuff.

Here is mine.
