CCV disconnected from air filter box and intake manifold
I recently bought a 2000 cherokee and have been performing maintenance on it and right away noticed something off in the engine bay. Both of the hoses that are apart of the CCV system are not attached and are just loose. However both locations that the hoses would connect to have been plugged up?
I've done the research and believe I understand how to reconnect everything correctly, but is there some reason/benefit that this would have been done by the previous owner? Feels like a whole lot of extra effort for this to have been done this way when they couldve just connected the hoses properly.
Also once I remove the bolt that was used to plug the intake manifold, I would need something for the hose to attach to yeah? Thanks, any help is appreciated
Never ceases to amaze me how folks butcher their vehicles rather than fix them. Of course I mean the previous owner.
Normally, there is a threaded fitting with a hose barb to attach to the hose that then connects to to the valve at the rear of the VC. That valve has a metered orifice meant to draw fumes from the crack case into the intake for combustion. The one in front has no orifice and attaches to the plugged fitting on the air cleaner box. This provides fresh filtered air back into the crankcase.
The intake fitting is normally part of the intake. I think this is the part number Mopar 4854194, but any threaded fitting that fits the hole and the hose should do.
The PCV elbows and hoses should be readily available online or even at a local parts store.
The MAP sensor. Can't tell from the pic if it's just hanging somewhere.
It's on the intake manifold next to the throttle body on a 2000. You can see the back of it in the 4th picture. Only us old jeep owners have it on the firewall.
