Hmm.. if you will refer back to the picture I linked... the ACC slot at the top right corner, next to fuse slot 1... that is the one that I use to power my CB and it is switched. There are multiple slots like this on the fuse block. I went out to my XJ to check and I am using at least 3 or 4 of them.

If you are just wanting to test to see if the CB works, pop the hood and just hook it directly to the battery. I would have the antenna connected and if it is a mag mount put it on the roof.

Don't take this the wrong way but perhaps you had the multimeter hooked up wrong? Test the multimeter on the battery first... make sure it gives you approx 12 volts.

I have a 01 so the diagram is a little different...

I'll go ahead and test it directly.

Yeah, I figured the fuse box diagram was probably different, but was hoping it would still give you an idea of what to look for.

I would bet it is a ground as well..

Let me know once you get it tested and are ready to install it. You can PM me if you want...or just post on here whichever.

I do not have any pictures of the wiring, being that mine is a 93 it still probably wouldn't help you much. Something else you could do is wire it using a cigarette plug (or a solderless vehicle adapter plug, http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=3802148).. the cig plug is switched power as well, or at least it is in my 93.

That would be an alternative for now till i can hardwire it in.

There is a fix for that as well... depending on how many accessories you are wanting to wire up.

another option, and i don't know how others feel about it...but when i had my cb hooked up, i picked up a cigar lighter plug from radio shack for $3...hook up your + and - wires to it and plug it in.
simple enough solution, not to mention that the cigar plugs have a built in fuse so no worries about blowing anything...
just a thought.

TankerBlade, if you have time to come on over, or i can swing by as well. I can help you out and get everything sorted out for you.

For the multi meter place the negative on the actual body metal, then the positive into one of the slots some may be ACC so you will have to have the key in the on position to get a reading, and some may be BAT which means they are constant power.

also now that i switched to the newer style dash, here is how i have mine mounted:

VTFD...that is what I linked to it my previous post...except it already had a lead on it.

96 XJ... that would be good. Sometimes it is difficult to get the full concept across without pictures of everything. I was about to break out the paper and pencil and start sketching..

I'll probably just go and try this. Probably a good starting point for now

I understand... if you are wanting to wire up off road lights and such, there is a neat relay "box" and switch box that keeps thinks very clean. I plan on doing this in the future as well.

I cant find the article but what he is talking about is taking a plastic project box from radio shack, running a 4ga bat cable into the box with a crimp end on it, placing a bolt thru the crimp end (just shorter than the box). Now that the bolt is attached to the 4ga wire the bolt is "live" since the bolt is live all you need is some washers and wires to attach to it! you take a washer or two between each hoop connector on your ACC wires.

So in short, you have the main cable coming off of the batt and into the box via a drilled hole, all of your ACC connect to the bolt in the box, once they are all connected then exit via another hole drilled in the other end of the box.

This way you can run all of your ACC directly to the batt with out the mess. It is always easy to add more too! just unscrew the lid to the box!

sorry if that is confusing lol. its better with the pictures from the article.
