Default Carpet replacement xj

I just bought a beautiful 2001 XJ Limited that was an auction vehicle. It was owned/used by the police and for a while they used it as a K9 unit(yeah, I know, a "Limited" dog kennel). The interior is cloth and is in VGC. It does not look like it was used for K9 transport, had lots of dog hair, but I was able to get most all of it up. However, not the odor. It smells like a doggy bed and I have shampooed, sprayed, use the powder stuff on the carpet & seats but the smell won't go away, it just seems to have permeated everything.

I want to replace the carpet, don't feel like pulling it all out, scrubbing the snot out of it, then reinstalling only to discover it still smells. I am looking at www.jeep4x4center.com and Summit, both have exact-fit replacement carpets for entire interior and seem reasonably priced. If you have any experience with either or another one I would appreciate knowing about it.

Thanks everyone.

Ehh, just tear it out and keep it out. The XJ's are known to rust under the carpet anyway. sand down to bare metal and paint with bed liner. + you can pop the plugs out and just spray her out and let it drain! carpets for houses... houses and nancys! haha

This will sound strange but if you can get your hands on or borrow an air purifier that creates ozone and let it run in the jeep for a night it should clear it up. I helped a buddy move into an apartment that reeked of cat urine. He let that thing run overnight and the smell was gone completely. I was skeptical till I witnessed that.

Troth, this XJ is too nice to wheel with, I reserve the dirty duty to my spartan '88 Pioneer gladiator, which is wayyy more Jeep than the '01 will ever be! SnakeEyes, that sounds like a easy thing to do so I'm going to try it. I am also going to pull the fabric covers off the seats and wash them since they are pretty easy to remove. I'm thinking the foam also has the odor in it, have no idea what I could do with that.

I put a dehumidifier in it and ran it for a night after shampooing it plus let it bake out in 95+ degree heat one day with all the doors open so I'm confident it is dried out, no mold's going to grow in there.

I'm also thinking of trying the baking soda solution. If none of this works I don't mind spending the $$$ to get a new carpet...hopefully it would give it a new car smell.
