Carpet question, please?
I want to remove my carpet (nasty) and use a rubber type mat molded, that will fit like carpet. Is there such a critter made to take the place of the old carpet? I've thought about just bed lining the whole inside floors. I don't like having carpet in any truck type of vehicle. Really, it is kind of stupid, if it will be used as a truck! I think they started putting carpet in these (trucks too), because so many women were buying/using them and expected it to be there. My F150 is all mat and easy to clean/wash out. Surely some of these cherokee's came with no carpet, probably ordered that way. Appreciate any help/direction on this.

The only problem with a rubber mat is it will hold water under it and help rust out the floor , I think using bed liner would be better it will help protech the foor .

Depends on things like the rust environment you live in. In the rust belt, there are a lot of truck beds that are rusting under spray-on treatments. Once rust occurs under bedliner, you don't know its there and it spreads and you can't really fix it. In the desert SW that's not a problem.

Here ya go. Work trucks use vinyl and rubber floor mats all the time.

Exactly! More of an off-road guy so just a flat floor carpet won't work so I just upgraded it with all-weather, https://www.jeepsareus.com/sku/82214855-fs.html . Didn't go for bed lining the whole floor since I want to try if all-weather mat would work first, would the dirt (but most especially water) spill outside the hard mat and it didn't as long as you won't hardly push the mat. I think if you have kids then bed lining would be the option because they are a little bit active inside the car so for sure if you would just place a hard mat then they would kick it for sure.

Alternative way: Kill the rust and convert it to iron phosphate with Ospho or Rust Mort. prime floor with epoxy primer ( tough stuff ), Paint floor with ceramic filled epoxy appliance paint ( tough as nails ) Throw in a set of rubber floor mats. Done.

Galvanizing base coat paint.. Follow this up with epoxy primer. Paint over it when done. Then, you could add in some type of floor mats.
