Modern multi-channel CBs don`t have "crystals" those are from older limited channel radios where you can switch channels by swapping "crystals" which were made to send and receive on various channels. If you burn up anything it most likely would be the "finals" which are the transmitting transistors. There are 2 of them. Generally only the bigger one blows and you can tell this happened by hooking up a power output meter and you`ll see your transmit power dropped to like 1/4 watt. It sounds like a ground problem. Is the antenna actually grounded to anything? If you bumper is aluminum or chrome plated it may not provide a ground.

Well My antenna is bolted on that strip of metal i have on and that metal is bolted on to the bumper.I mean the cb does pick up reception its jus the tuning.Im guessing the chrome bumper is not giving me a good ground.Im going to do what frank said about the wire today.Just got back into town. where else could i bolt it to have a better ground?

Well today i ran a wire from the antena to the body for a direct ground and also uncoiled my coax even though it wasnt tightly coiled.I have no idea what to do now lol.Any other suggestions would be great.
