Can't remove driveshaft slip joint from transmission
I've searched and can't seem to find the procedure that I need. The driveshaft on my 99 Cherokee 2wd (AW4 transmission, 8.25 rear end) broke at the pinion yoke and hit the pavement. I've removed the driveshaft from the front slip yoke and sent it off for repair. I can't get the slip yoke out of the transmission. As far as I can determine, it should pull off of the output shaft from the transmission. I've beat on it with a rubber mallet/hammer/hand sledge, I've tried pulling out it with a come-along, I've put a hole in the cap and sprayed PB Blaster (penetrating oil) and let it sit.
I can remove the extension housing but it appears that the slip yoke has to come off first.
Looking for ideas and don't want to pull the whole transmission if I don't have to.
Thanks.

This isn't my Cherokee as you can see the driveshaft is attached here, but it looks just like that; the yoke coming out of the transmission extension housing/bell. In mine the driveshaft is out.
