hehe got long skinny arms or know someone who does? Basically you have to reach up under the jeep at the front hood area to the drivers side where the release latch is..and manually release it with some pliers...or remove the headlight assemblies and unbolt the catches themselves..

Sounds like a plan.

Be warned, my '93 has two latches. One on the passenger and one on the driver's side.

All Cherokees have two so that is why OKC said catches plural.

True, but he only said to reach up into the driver's side.

But yeah, I fail at reading. Didn't even catch the plural.

If you can reach the latch mechanism there you can turn it and release both sides from that one spot. It is on the drivers side.

The release mechanism is on the drivers side and you pull it towards the fender sorta..That will allow for manual release basically mimicking what the cable does and if you can do this it's a pain and took me a bit to get it and a soar shoulder.. I did that on mine so I wouldn't have to remove the headlight assemblies and remove the latches/catches...

jeez . . . why . . . just why? why would you cut a hole like that?

darn PO

you can get a replacement cable from quadratec for about 12 bucks
I had to replace mine since it broke at the handle. . . luckily there was enough wire left to put a vise grip on it until it could be replaced
