Why not dielectric? Grease eats soft rubber and plastic. Plus the heat will turn it into a gunky constancy if its just sitting. I didn't mean to be a Dick Bro. I've been a mechanic for a long time and I don't like it when people spout things off without knowing what they're talking about (not you). Also when I give the answer and people just don't listen. I understand you're new to all this... we all will try to help with any problems you have.

probably burnt dirty oil or dielectric grease.if no other problem clean it up and get back on the road / an injector to burn thru is not possible, if your fuel rail blows up I would still look elsewhere.

X2 for the melted grease theory. I've seen it before. Shouldn't cause it to run different, so nothing I'd lose sleep over.

is there a chance that the oil was applied to the connectors in the past? i have done this before on electric hydraulic valve switches. when the switch started acting up (working only part of the time) i would dab a little oil from the engine dipstick into the toggle switch. it worked wonders.

looks like an overload of dielectric grease with lots of dirt, dust, etc. built up in it to me... try cleaning it up real good and using a little less of the stuff than the last guy did? If the plastic's deformed I'd get new ones, if not clean it up and try it? Or take the opportunity to do an injector-upgrade swap since you got it apart? That's what I'd do!

It's not dielectric. He said he packed the connectors with regular grease.
