Default Can't Get Power Steering Pump Bracket Off

I'm trying to change the water pump in my 87 XJ and am having trouble removing the PSP bracket to remove the serpentine belt. I can't get the bolt off the back. There's not enough room to rachet it and a 13mm wrench is to big and 12 is too small. I have tried to loosen it with an adjustable wrench but it's not budging.

Is there another option to get the serpentine belt off? Any help would be appreciated.

pump should wiggle if you pull all the bolts except that lower bolt. if i remember right i used a 13mm gearwrench to pull that lower rear bolt. if you yank the airbox it gives you a lot more room to reach around

anyway, like i was saying the pump should wiggle if you pull all but that one. once you rock the pump a bit the lower bolt should be loose enough to pop right out

if you're saying a 13 is too big i wonder what bolts you have on the pump and if someone force threaded one at some point. that whole area is 13,14,15mm

you dont need to take any bolts out.

on the renix power steering pump, you have 2 bolts on the back. loosen them slightly. if you loosen the bolts too much, when you try to tighten it down, the pump will twist.

to loosen, you have (if you are in front of the vehicle looking at it) one bolt at the 12 oclock position, 6 oclock position (this is one of the locks for the tensioner), two on the back, and one at the 4 oclock position which is perpindicular (this is what adjusts tension on the belt)

like i said, loosen the bolts as little as need be (except the bolt that adjusts tension), so your pump doesnt twist and start eating belts.
