can't get my Cherokee to run cool.
Is put water in it. I could find it for weeks daily driving, and weekend rides. Lil water here and there cause it'd run hot. And all the sudden it just temp rised, and I put water in wouldn't stay cool, put new water pump, and thermo now runs hot, and has a miss. Im taking off work due to no vehicle. Any know what it could be.? Also was pushing oil out dip stick n top of valve cover.
poor 2door jeep. Think its dying. Ran strong like it had no miles til today.

New radiator and all new hoses, coolant tank if you have one and a new fan clutch plus a good cooling system back flush would really help unless the head gasket let go.. Then head gasket, and parts listed to keep it from happening again. Also, pending on how hot it got, you could have cracked a casting. Do a compression test and report back with the numbers.

If you are pushing oil out the dipstick (and you haven't severely overfilled it with oil- don't laugh, seen it) , there's really only two possibilities:
1) your crankcase vent system is not able to keep up with engine blowby- the CCV system might be clogged, or the rings may be so worn the CCV just can't keep up. Or both.
2) you have cylinder compression leaking into the crankcase. That can be a blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block. Most likely the first option. You really have to be working overtime to crack a 4.0 block. I don't believe I've ever seen it outside mechanical damage from rod failure. Heck, they usually even survive that!
The fact that you are also having overheat issues, misfiring and losing coolant really points to a head gasket problem. I'd put a cooling system pressure tester on, and perform cylinder compression tests and see what they say.

Rule of thumb is if the oil looks like a chocolate milkshake, then head gaskets is blown and dumping coolant into the oil.
My 95 had an issue of overheating really fast, almost instantaneously, not long after I got it. Replaced the whole cooling system top to bottom. Still overheated and the weird thing was that it would get hot in just a few minutes. It lost coolant previously until I overhauled the cooling system. I ran the system dry, let it get hot, shut it down and pulled the upper radiator hose and it was highly pressurized. Off came the head and it was all cracked up. Slapped another head on it and next day drove 800 miles. But just my experience

I haven't ever done a compression test. But the radiator is good. The clutch fan and electric fan, hoses are good. The head it bone dry of water behind thermo. It like don't have no flow of water. If I had stuff for compression text I'd try it. But may just go buy a head gasket.

Any chain parts store will rent a compression tester to you. Also, If you do a cooling system pressure test, DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE WITHOUT PULLING THE SPARK PLUGS FIRST!!! If it fills a cyl up with water, you could destroy a rod while cranking it, compounding your current problems. Turn it over a few times w/o plugs to push the water out.

It sounds like you never got all the air out of the system, air in the system will stop the flow of coolant. Research into the open system conversion. I've never kept my renix running so idk much about it.
